About Us

National Association of Geography Students (NAGS), Federal University of Technology, Minna Chapter is a body comprising of Undergraduate students of Geography. The Association is duly registered in the institution and is a member of Institute of Certified Geographers of Nigeria.

NAGS-FUT Minna is a non-profit scientific and educational platform aimed at moving and advancing the frontiers of science towards a responsible living, the Association promotes the understanding, study and importance of Geography in remote-sensing/meteorology option and other related fields. 

The Association was founded in the early 1980’s by the then students of Geography Department of Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state. Currently, the Association has more than seven hundred (700) members. NAGS members are a rare breed Geographers, disciplined in both remote-sensing and meteorology; however, the motives of creating this association has not been lost, instead, the focus and effort of the association is becoming stronger and resourceful.

The Association is being driven by it objectives which include:-
*Creating an avenue for Geography students to share views, thoughts and ideas on their academic progress.
*To promote unity among members in spite of social, political, ethnic, religious and cultural background.
*To provide smooth terrain for geographical innovations and scientific research.

VISION:-To be recognized as a body that provide lasting solutions to environmental challenges globally.

MISSION:-To promote unity among members in other to foster academic excellence towards a reliable future which depends on how the present is built.

To reflect back, we need to commend the achievements of our past leaders since the instigation of this great Association, it will be noted that many water has passed under the proverbial bridge of this association that has witnessed copious developments which are too numerous for us to mention but we appreciate you all.

It will be placed on record the contributions of both Com. Yusuf Muyideen and Com. Ajayi Abdulafeez Olayinka led revitalization era that equal the Association among all in the University Community which set a pace for the progressive team of 2013/2014 administration under the leadership of Senator Muhammad Abubakar Dakpanchi. The Association has trodden the path the angels fear to tread! From a humble start, it has passed the stage of mediocrity to the peak of excellence.

Being in Geography Department, it’s so unique which one could only link to the scope and nature of the course itself (J.M Baba 2014). We cannot rest without commending the unflinching support of the Head of the Department Dr. A. A Okhimamhe, our dear mother and the adviser of this great Association Dr. Aisha Abdulkadir and also the cooperation of our amiable lecturers. To our dear students, your immeasurable support and patience towards the success of this administration is highly appreciated.

We believe this is not an avenue to tell the world of our achievements but we would like to provide a brief of our progressiveness as “The Successful successor to the previous administration”……………………………………….Thank you!! Thank you!!
